Every time I need to copy a file to my iPhone, it is a hair rising experience.  Why?  Why I need to use some third party software to do the most basic task there is? I bought the very first iPhone (2G) in February 2008.  Somehow I figured out how to  to move media files between iPhone and PC.  It was clumsy and awkward.  It was a torture and menace. And have to repeat this again.  Apple did not fix this problem till present.  Do the listen for people’s cry for help?  Apparently, they do not have ears.  It is still a pain in 2015 on iPhone 5S.  File management on iPhone is as terrible…

WP-Users-with-Date-Column

This solution was last tested on WordPress 4.1.1 in March 2015.   This solution was tested on WordPress 3.1 running on IIS7 and IIS 7.5.  It will work on WordPress 3.1.1, on 3.2.1, and on 3.5.1.    This solution was just tested on WordPress 3.8.1 and works very well. This solution adds a new column to your admin user page, and makes it sortable (optional).   Here are the steps. -01- Find wp-admin\includes\class-wp-users-list-table.php and make a backup copy of the file. Call it class-wp-users-list-tableORIG.php.   -02- Open wp-admin\includes\class-wp-users-list-table.php in your favorite editor.   -03- Find line function get_columns() {   -04- Add a new line of code ‘user_registered’ => __(‘Date’), after…

If you have a powerful NAS server with massive redundancy (RAID), you wish you can access all files and directories from anywhere on the planet. Recently I switched from Synchronizing Offline file to a real-time access my drive remotely using WebDAV.  This twist is that I am using Synology WebDAV on server side and Windows 10 without any third-party product.  I am using simple Map Network Drive option in Windows Explorer. Here are the steps: -01- Login to your Internet domain provider and create an “A” type DNS record to link your router external IP address with a permanent subdomain string of your choice.   In this example, I will use  nas.yourDomain.com…

DS1515-Plus-InsideView

[ . . . always in progress . . . ] Everybody who uses little-known in US, but powerful Synology network storage boxes can’t help but fall in love with them.  I was thinking to replace my old 2008 Windows server with a new one, but pain of maintaining and  configuring stopped me.  Is there a better choice out there?  Yes.  Something called NAS – network attached storage.  To begin with, I almost bought Western Digital My Cloud box, but reading comments about slowness of performance stopped me there.  On the contrary,  reading Synology reviews made me salivating.  And reality was even better than expectations. The main purpose of Synology is to be a…

Power-Up

Idea – Reduce Noise, Save on Electricity My electric company installed an electricity consumption gadget, and ability to monitor usage online. A few month into the experiment I realized, that I can easily reduce electric usage, if I turned off my server. It is been over a year since I migrated all my sites to Amazon cloud, so now my server only needs to be on, when I need it on. All the nights and 90% of all work hours it can be off.  But how to do that? I recall seeing something in BIOSes of Intel motherboards called Wake-On-LAN.  First time I saw something like this was in May of…

Modified: 2017/04/30

After several days of heavy exhausting battles and sleepless nights, after testing dozens of options, after browsing many proposed Internet solutions, I finally was able to move an old instance of Windows XP on a new machine with new RAID drivers. That happened at 13:23 on December 12, 2010.  I moved Win XP from old RAID machine to a new RAID machine. O boy! I found  a clear and clean way to do this task.  I will also use the same technique to move any Microsoft operating system from a Single drive to a RAID machine.  And this also works great, if you simply switching your PC controller from IDE to…

If you have iPhone backup on an old PC, or old prallel install of other (or even non-functioning) operating system, you still can restore your iPhone through iTunes. Copy a long number directories from old installation to a new one.  For example copy a directory   from …Old User Directory\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup It appears that your applictions are not part of the backup.  Also, I don see any music files to be restored.  However, even your last search in Google maps is restored and saved.
