26 Ways to Say STOP in English and Russian

English:
I was writing a technical article on stopping the spammers. And I started to list all the things that I would do to stop them. Suddenly, I realize that almost every letter in English language has a word for Stop, Block or Prevent.

Russian:
Я писал техническую статью о том, как остановить spammers.  Я начал перечислять все те вещи, которые я бы сделал, чтобы их остановить, и вдруг я осознал,  что почти каждая буква в Английском языке имеет слова со значением Остановить, Заблокировать, Предотрватить.

English:
The very logical next step was to find equivalents for all these words in Russian. And I think by accident I discovered a very simple and valuable tool to analyze and compare languages – putting them side by side.  It turns out that in Russian a lot of words are variations of the same word with various prefixes.

Russian:
Логичным следующим шагом показалось найти все эти слова по-русски.  И как это часто бывает, я обнаружил очень простой и ценный способ сравнивать словарный набор языка – просто разместить все слова с одним значением друг возле друга.  Оказалось , что в русском очень много слов образовано просто с помощью приставки.

English:
And one can easily continue this exercise by adding other languages for a comparison. I am hoping for your suggestions. This is exactly the area, where one can use help from the reader.

Russian:
И очень интересно продолжить это занятие, добавляя другие языки для сравнения.  Я надеюсь на ваши предложения.  Этот тот самый случай, когда однин язык хорошо, а два языка лучше.

    Can you imagine! My nephews can read and understand English all the way from Moscow. Amazing.
    I am including И – Исключить (Exclude) and Ч – Чистить (Wipe Out, like wipe out the enemies).

    I did have СТОП, but in Russian it is not a verb (глагол). I was trying to list only verbs.

    С – Стоп
    Ч – Чистить (по типу wipe out)
    Ц – Цыц :-)
