Evergreen-Skyline-Plowed

We were afraid that it will take months for our high snow bank to melt away. It was a great surprise to see the entire field plowed, and all the show completely off the field. Skyline last Sunday after a fresh dump of snow on the ground. It was only 6 days ago. Today the park was as fresh as a daisy, and we didn’t even need Misha’s small goals   We started 7 on 7 on a large set of goals. Remember, how good does it feel to play unobstructed! It was wonderful. Tomorrow rain is expected late, so we will have over 20 people on the field. Today we…

DARKs played down 4 on 5 for the first 55 minutes of the game (from 10:58 to 11:03). They were winning 5:2 and full of enthusiasm.  Then, exhausted and tired, they played 4 on 4 for the remaining 52 minutes (from 11:03 to 11:55) and lost 1:5.  How can we make a fair adjustments for uneven game time?  How indeed. Show receded considerably. A huge green areas are now available for the game, and today we took advantage of that.  We quickly cleared a normal size rectangle, and for the first time we played unobstructed and without any boundaries.  It was wonderful.  That is how the game was intended. Tomorrow a 1…

Game Results 2011-02-13 SUN The Best Green in the Tallest Snow

Next week a lot of people  are disappearing due to a long weekend.  Goals are transferred to Lesha K.  So keep tune for the news. Goalkeeper seems distracted And an inevitable goal a second later Almost no clean up today.  Just fixed a far remote corners of the field.  Plus, shovels are almost useless, when the snow turned into ice. The first wave of gamers played an official game 5 on 5 (from09:44 to 10:12).  Then people started to show up in bunches.  We stop the official portion, and started a 3 team rotation.  It was very cold.  But still only waiting team would notice the weather. At the highest point we’ve…

Game Results 2011-02-12 SAT – If in Doubt – Stay Home

Tomorrow it will be cold, nasty weather.  All the hell will break loose.  And the wind will blow hard.   And your feet will freeze and eventually fall off.  Do not risk it.  Stay home with wife and kids, if any. For the rest of us, today we got 9 people.  We manage to fix the near banks of the show piles for better bouncing.  Tomorrow we will fix the far side of the field. Today  we finally renewed the count to our goals and misses.  Alex B. got his haircut and Lenia G. got his $15 shirt in Framinham store.  Both exceeded expectations and scored plenty. The game was long and…

Misha-About-to-Score

Yes!  We are still playing. But no one gets any statistics.  On Saturdays we do not have enough people and it is not official.  On Sundays we are getting too many people, and we have to play with 3 rotating teams. This week we discovered a sheet of ice under the snow And we have to do a second clean up aided by sun action Our people are great.  Finally we are getting enough shovels, and field is getting cleaned in no time.  But remember – it is small.  It is only the size of a basketball court.  So this week we will probably try to extent it a little. Misha…

Winter records were broken by our team-member attendance.  It is end of a snowy of January,  and we had 16 people on the ground today. Youthful enthusiasm prevailed, and after one tired shovel worrier, grew another one to replace him. We extended the field, but only 4 on 4 could play on the green comfortably. So we split into 3 teams by 5 each and started rotation every 5 minutes.  Each team would stay 2 games in-a-row regardless of the score. Vlad U. headed a conservative team first to wait on “the bench”.  Results varied.  Some games ended 0:0, but we had one game 2:0 and even 2:1 in mere 5…

Game Results 2011-01-29 SAT – Playing Through the Snowiest of the XXI Century

Six people made their way through snow and cold.   Even small  “sniper” shovels played their role today.  And all were rewarded with a bright sunshine and mild windless conditions. Lenia G. like a mirage on the horizon was appearing several times, but never materialized into a flesh and blood.  What a shame!  Your typical over-promising and under-delivering.  Luckily, Eddy flew from Jerusalem just by the time, when we finished clean up.  He made us whole – 3 on 3. We had about an hour to clean up, setup and zip up, and some 75 minutes to play. It  is a completely different game to to play with boundaries.  Ball changes so…

Here are some Headlines for today’s game: Organization and discipline displayed under harsh conditions. 11 people, 6 WHITEs and 5 DARKs celebrated middle on the winter. Cold was not a factor today, but Alex B. was. DARKs needed, but never got help from Vadim L. and Yura D. Zhenia D. scored 3 goals and forgot his ball on the field. Watch out! Dogs prefer our patch of green grass to the snow. We quickly finished final cleaning touches and started at 10:10am.   Next 50 minutes the score was even 1:1.  Finally at 11:00am Zhenia D. makes the score 1:2, and Dr. Yurik rolls an easy one 2:3 (11:09am). At this point…

Game Results 2011-01-22 SAT — The Man and The Snow

Snow was fluffy and light. We were dressed too warm for the weather. We had to loose items of clothing every five minutes. Vova M. played without a hat or a bonnet. But let’s go in chronological order. Snow Removal Area Vova M. 1 / 3 33% Kolya P. 1 / 4 25% Serezha 3 / 16 19% Alex Grt 1 / 7 14% Lenia G. 1 / 12 8% Total 100% We had more shovels than people, and by 10:15 all the snow removal was done.   We begun to erect the goals and sent Lenia G. to sent a message to the Group . Vova cleaned the largest area and…

Some get it more of it. some miss it entirely. It was a tough power football today. No one complained, but our Fall 2010 champion Vladis Sh. had to leave early (at 10:56) because of powerful blow in a groin area. That was not pretty.  Chris V. had to switch for DARKs. Two new players qualified today – 3 games in one month – Ivan (who from now on will be known as Drago) and our famous goalkeeper Alex B. We are quickly approaching an honorable one-hundred-members mark. Very slowly we collected 11 people, but for the first hour we were evaluating everybody’s contribution in size of his (or her) shovel,…

Game-2011-01-15-A

We manage to free up not quite a tennis court-size-field, but closer to a basketball-size court in one hour.  We started the game at 10:30.  We had 9 players on the field, so all 29 goals are counted and recorded.  It wasn’t very hard, because 9 of 29 were scored by one person – Serezha, who is not an often, but always a valuable visitor on the field. It was only 4 DARKs, but youth and energy of Vova M., who jumped started the whole enterprise, quickly materialize in fruitful results.  DARKs were leading 0:2, and 1:4, and 2:6, and only but 11:10am WHITEs finally manage to catch-up and tied 6:6.…
